A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER
… If I only knew back then what I know now …
I woke up one summer morning in 2010 to a panicked scream. It was my mother in excruciating pain. The entire right side of her body was immobile. I threw her over my shoulder and rushed her to the ER. She had suffered a grand mal seizure in her sleep.
That was the moment my life changed forever…

My mother had been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor, classified as an oligodendroglioma tumor, in March of 2007. She endured a traumatic surgery that removed most of the tumor and began a rigorous course of chemotherapy treatments, radiation, and physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Her partial paralysis was the result of too much radiation, which over time had burned and severed her motor nerves.
I became my mother’s primary caretaker. I was responsible for administering her daily medicine regimen and hygiene, helping her with mobility exercises, getting her to and from hospital visits, and being her advocate with practitioners. Initially, I questioned if I could live up to the transition from being the youngest in the family to the adult who was now responsible for someone who had trouble with verbalizing and mobility and experienced emotional highs and lows. I had to be mentally and physically strong enough to care for my mother and to lead our family as well.
I often wondered why my mother was chosen as the brave soul to take on this incredible challenge. I never hesitated in immediately signing up to enter this battle with her against the plague of our generation: cancer. Medical school didn’t matter anymore, and professional basketball didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered was my mother. I never left her side.
My mother is the only soul I know who truly fulfilled her purpose and God’s calling upon her life. For over 20 years she taught, nurtured, and molded young children as a 1st-grade teacher. She always used to say “teachers make the world go round!” She believed that there are only two dates that matter in someone’s life; the day you are born and the day you realize why you were born. I now realize, that like my mother, I was born to be an educator and an advocate for people and the community. I am here to provide inspiration, support, and hope for all.
As the founder and president of GreenMCMeds, I embrace the next chapter of my life with the same passion that I cared for my dear mother with. Our Patients First philosophy, educating and providing innovational services and resources for all patients, is our number one goal. As one of the nation’s preeminent preventative personalized medicine companies, GreenMCMeds partners with healthcare practitioners and organizations to create a stimulating environment where patient care goes hand-in-hand with innovative care, health services, and medical education.
